Mobile TV Demonstration/Trial FAQ

Australian Digital Testing Pty Limited has been licensed by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) to carry out a mobile TV trial using a UHF broadcast channel. The trial is being coordinated by the Ai Group's Australian Digital Suppliers Industry Forum (ADSIF).

  1. Why is Ai Group coordinating a mobile TV demonstration/trial in Sydney?
With the Australian Government currently considering its options for allocating two national UHF broadcast channels, ADSIF and its mobile handset supplier members have proposed that one of those channels should be immeditately allocated for mobile TV services.

Ai Group is demonstrating broad industry support for the allocation of broadcast spectrum for mobile TV.

The service is only available in the Sydney Metropolitan area. The high-power transmissions are broadcast from the Broadcast Australia’s TV tower at Gore Hill,
